Star - Week 1 -

Hello everyone, I'm Lucy and in this first work that we did I had to be the group's Star, so I was in charge of exposing what we have done to others. At first, as some groups were coming, I was giving them clues so they could try to guess the title of the images we had made, and later, if they hadn't understood it, I explained it to them. After the individual visits of some groups, we have been seeing the whole class the images of the other groups until we have arrived at ours, where I have said the titles that had given my colleagues and then I said the real titles of the images.
I felt a little nervous at the begining of my exposition and that is reflected in one moment in which I had to say "parents" and the word I said was "partners", so some of my classmates laught of that and I laguht too. Then I felt more relax and I finished my exposition without changed any word again.

Curator-farmer - Week 1 -

Hello, I am Marta Martinez from the superstars teachers group and this week I was in charge of carrying out the task of curator Farmer. As it was our first job, we did not look for too much information, the basics to be able to perform the task number one. Therefore, I have created an account in a page called pearltrees where we can have all the information and its links in an organized way. As I mentioned before, we have only looked for the concept of conceptual photography to get an idea of what it meant and also we have looked for ideas about the school and about interaction.

Translator - Week 1 -

Hello! We are Andrea and Mónica and this week we are in charge of the translator role. Because of the little syllabus that we have learnt this week, there isn’t a lot of ideas to search, but we have done our utmost.

  • Conceptual photography: it is a kind of photography where the artist wants to transmit an idea or a concept. Generally, the photographer wants to transmit this idea by abstract symbols that the viewer can interpret in different ways. In most of this pictures is necessary a post-production to create the perfect image for representing the idea.
  • School: it is the place where children go during their infancy to go educated by teachers in order to have an academic training based on scientific, technic and human knowledges.
  • Interaction: it is an action that is reciprocal among two or more people. We have searched this concept because we interact a lot in class, so it is an important thing in the subject.

Analyst - Week 1 -

Hi, I'm Cristina and my role in this work group this week has been the analyst.
First I will say that the best part of the work has been the creativity, since we have been able to create our own ideas without following any rules which has allowed us greater freedom. On the other hand, I think the worst part without any doubt has been to draw our ideas on paper since we did it without looking for the photos on the internet and that is why we found it more difficult. Also, another of the things that we have found more difficult has been to be able to shape the drawings that we wanted to represent.
In addition, the best time of the week has been to see how we were gradually emerging different ideas. At first it was difficult because we did not know how it should be but with each idea that we were having we found it easier to continue, even seemed fun.  On the other hand, the worst moment of the week as I mentioned above has been the fact of representing the ideas in the paper since we had doubts in case our colleagues were not able to understand our drawings and arrive to the idea we are referring to.
With this work we have learned that in the school environment, a great variety of student situations and circumstances occur at the same time. We also know that there are students who have different skills that do not appear on the curriculum or are not really considered very important as arts, but they are not very good with other subject as mathematics, which are considered one of the most important course in the curriculum, and that are why they are separated from the group or even looked bad.
Furthermore, as a group, what we want to conserve is that each one participate in a different way in the accomplishment of the work according to their abilities, since that we have worked well. The individuality of each member of the group has also been positive, contributing each one with things that already knew. Nevertheless, we want to improve the distribution of tasks for each member of the group, as in this first work, such as at the drawing, there have had to draw people who preferred to have the ideas and they have had to think ideas those who preferred to draw.
Also, the contents of this subject and especially of this work are related to other subjects; for example, as we know, traditional methods of learning are not correct because, as you can see, they do not really learn, so it is necessary to look for other methods like those that are beginning to use today.
In addition I must say that there is a social connection between these contents since for example in schools as in life is encouraged and we must follow a pattern to fit into society because those who are different are discriminated. They tell us that we must express what we have felt since children but always cover our mouths if we say something that is not well seen, allowing us to only say what it is socially correct.
In closing, I have to evaluate the work done by my colleagues during this week:
  • To Paula Palacios Espadero I give a 5, since she has participated actively in all the work, not only realizing her roll but also helping to the other members. She is also the one that has the most initiative of the group and seeks to have everything perfect.
  • To Andrea Ruiz Sánchez assigned a 4 because she was the one who created the blog, the instagram account, besides doing her work for the time that was planned.
  • To José Pina Serrano I give him a 3 because he has also participated actively doing his work correctly.
  • To Lucía Marín Abad I give her another 3 because she has played well the work that she was playing this week being interested in the work of the team.
  • I have assigned Ana Sánchez Llorente a 3 for the reasons mentioned above, she has done her job correctly, showing interest in obtaining a good result.
  • To Mónica López Pérez I give her a 3 because she has performed her role very well, motivating the other colleagues to continue the work.
  • To Marta Martínez Bueno I give her a 3 because she has worked in a participative way.
  • To Cristina Huete Martínez I give her a 3 because she has actively participated in addition to showing interest and consulting things several times to make sure she was doing well.

Journalist - Week 1 -

Hello, my name is Pepe and this week I've been the journalist.
Regarding to the dynamic of the weekly work, our group, which is called ‘’The Superstars’’, had to think about and choose five ideas which take place in education and make a drawing of all of them.
In order to carry out this task, the different members of the group did not meet up physically at the same place, but each member developed and searched for the ideas mentioned above using their laptops and connecting each other through skype. The half of the group searched for different ideas by using internet and social media (facebook, different webpages…). Once this part of the group found seven ideas it was shared with the rest of the group mates, and then, between all the members of the group discussed all of them and picked the ones that could be suitable for the task we had to perform. After that, the drawings were made both by hand and by computer by the other half of the group.
Now here are presented the titles of each one of the ideas, a brief explanation of  the meaning of the drawings and the pictures:
The title of the first picture is called ‘’when could I speak?’’. It stands for the image of the students who have lots of ideas inside their mind, but they are not allowed to convey them. And later, in higher grades, the students are forced to participate, but their minds are empty of ideas. Therefore they do not know how to answer.

The second picture is called ‘’Parents’ Attitude Toward Teachers’ Negative Critics’’. It is about a student who has had a wrong behaviour (misbehaved) and the teacher punishes him. In this situation the picture shows how there are some parents who support teacher’s position, whereas other parents support their son’s behaviour blaming the teacher about the sitution.

The third picture is called ‘’Why be different has to be a problem?’’.  This picture stands for the isolation and laughter that have to be endured by people who do not think in the same way than others. This kind of people feel rejected and excluded out of the social life.

The fourth picture is called ‘’Learning like a parrot and forgetting like a fish’’. This idea is about the students who memorize a large amount of information in order to throwing it out in the exam. But once the students perform the test, they forget all about they memorized, so that there has no been a real-significant- learning.

5     The fith picture is called ‘’Let give more liberty to the children’s creative soul’’. The idea which is presented in this drawing is that teachers do not let students show their creativity. They teach them in a mechanical way.

In the same way that our group did, so did the rest of the classroom groups. A classroom activity was held between all the groups of our class, and all of them had to take their pictures printed to class in order to share their ideas. This activity was carried out in the following way:
-
The stars of the different groups were in charge of presenting and explaining to the whole class the meaning of the pictures which were picked (and made) by his/her group.

-         All the pictures of the different groups were placed in different parts of the class, sticked in the wall without any title.

-         Next, once all the pictures were located, the members of each group (except the star) were assigned to guess the meaning of the chosen pictures by other group.  Between all of them and helping each other they had to think of the possible meaning that each picture had, writing down their answer in a piece of paper and sticking it above or next to the picture that they think could match. They were allowed to get help from the star of the group, but without conveying the real meaning.

-          Next, the same process was repeated, but this time with different students, to see whether their thoughts about the pictures matched or not with the thoughts of the previous students.

Here are some of the comments that were made by classmates from other groups about the pictures of our group.

-             And finally, in the last part of the activity, the star of each group had to show the comments made over the pictures of his/her group, and next explain to the whole class the real meaning of the pictures.

Now here are presented the different pictures of all groups that were shown during the activity:

Blog/Website outside the class
This week, searching for any interesting subjects about education, I came across with the topic of ‘’Keeping your blogging students safe online’’.  This blog helps to raise teachers’ awareness about the risks that students can find when they both blogging and use the new technologies.

Facilitator - Week 1 -

Hello, my name is Paula and this week I’ve been the facilitator.
I started the week dividing the task of each member of the group, so everyone had something to do.
The half of us decided to think about five ideas of conceptual photography and the other half were the ones that drawing it.
At the beginning I didn’t know exactly how should I do my role so I saw a video that it was made  last year by a group of students that was in 1st of career that year. In the video the students gave some advices about how to be a good facilitator, they said that the facilitator need to be motivator, help the others, be sure that everyone did the task of his or her role…, so following this advice I began to put into practice my role and it has gone very well. Every member of the group understood that I was the facilitator and what my role was so everyone  has paid attention to me and we haven’t got any problem.
Here I left the link of how to be the best facilitator:
