Journalist - Week 7 -

Hello everyone! I'm Cristina and this is the 7th week of work and I'm in charge of the journalist role of my group, so let's see how we've worked and what has been the final result.

On Monday, Linda started the class explaining the complexity of the schools and saying how the external factors influence them. For example, she has told to us that two years ago her students recorded an activity as journalists but when the time of uploading to the blog arrived, the wifi of the University did not work so these jobs were affected by external factors that they could not solve. Then, she has explained the task to us and, as every week, she has wished good luck to all of us. In this work we had to look for 6 news related to the ideas that appear in the chapter of a book that she has provided to us (complexity theory, the context of a complex organization, emerging knowledge through connections, diversity and redundancy, balancing randomness and deterministic order, complexity theory and change in schools). Afterwards, we have distributed the roles and this has been easy because each one had one or two roles remaining. We have started reading the chapter and trying to think ideas, which has been difficult because we didn´t understand it very well. As every week we have met at half past four by Skype to start looking for news related to the ideas mentioned in the chapter.

On Tuesday, we started the morning by reviewing some of the ideas we made on Monday and agreeing to choose them. We also took a break but even in the coffe we were still working! In the afternoon at 16.30 as every Monday and Tuesday we were already connected on Skype and starting to look for the only idea that we lacked, which seemed the most difficult to us because we did not understand it, and also we had asked to the other groups. After a few hours searching and with some doubts about certain ideas, we had finally finished! Now we had only to print it in order to our star did her best on Wednesday.

Finally, on Wednesday was the day of the exhibitions. When we arrived to the class, Linda has organized us in groups in which there should be a member of each group and the star of this week played the role of editor in this activity. Each group had a number and this number corresponded to a type of complexity. All the members of the group had to take their news to the editor's table and, summarizing it to write it in the newspaper. This activity has seemed very dynamic since we were contrasting all the news found and checked if they were correct or not. At the same time, it has been one of the most difficult task to us because we did not know for sure if the news we had found were related to the type of complexity.
I leave some photos of how the week has gone. I hope you enjoy!
